KPU Wilson School of Design
State of the Art School of Design
Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) officially opened its new $36-million Wilson School of Design on January 3 – a facility that was financed in part by Lululemon Athletica Inc. (Nasdaq:LULU) founder Chip Wilson and his family.
The yogawear giant contributed $8 million to the project while $24 million came from the B.C. government and KPU. KPU’s Richmond campus had been a site with only one building. The new Wilson School of Design building is beside that original structure and has a bridge to link it to the old building.
The 6000 sf facility includes:
- New teaching studios.
- Testing and prototyping labs where students can design, prototype, test and market product concepts.
- A “usability lab.”
- Gallery space for exhibitions of student work and curated shows related to innovation.
- Student study space.
